Under 16s Derbyshire vs S&H – match report

Venue: Bridgnorth Golf Club

Tough Match for the under 16s!

The boys (and parents) had a long trip from Derbyshire to Bridgnorth for the u16s second match of the season. The team were in a buoyant mood after winning their first match away in Worcestershire and everyone was pleased to leave the heavy rain behind. The day was grey with only a few patches of drizzle, at least the weather was good!

The Shropshire Manager confirmed that he was able to select a stronger team for this game than he had managed for the recent u18s game against Derbyshire. And so, it proved. The foursomes in the morning showed how strong the S & H team were with the session finishing 4-1 in favour of the home team. Only Gavin Ingram and James Lambert winning their game.

The afternoon singles started with a solid performance from Tom Allen, winning his match 2 up. The next 5 singles matches were lost to strong play from S & H with no match going beyond the 16^th. James Lambert & Gavin Ingram followed on from their success in the morning and did well to win their games, as they were aware of the scores around them. The last 2 games went to S & H giving them a convincing win.

Thanks to the parents for their support on the long trip to Shropshire.
